Paul Bennett - Instructor - Paul has over 12 years Eastern martial arts training experience and came into Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) in 2004.  His passion lies within 15th century German techniques, but he encourages his pupils to look into all aspects and traditions of HEMA. 

 

Colin Fieldhouse -  Sergeant-at-Arms -  Colin has studied HEMA since 2002. Before he found HEMA he studied Kendo and sporting Sabre. He has continued studying sabre and currently teaches a short course on basic sabre to children at his primary school, albeit with lots of references to pirates School Blog

 

Frances Perry - Assistant - Frances has studied HEMA since 2001, principally in the 15th century German tradition and also enjoys taking an active part in Wars of the Roses re-enactment as a swordswoman and traditional longbow archer.

Who Are We?

 

 

Schola Bradford (SG6) is the Bradford branch of  Schola Gladiatoria, an historical European martial arts society based in London, England, teaching authentic medieval and renaissance fighting arts, armed and unarmed, from original combat treatises.

 

SG6 is the sixth chapter of Schola Gladiatoria, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

 

Schola Bradford specialise in the teachings of Master Johannes Liechtenauer, dating from the late 14th century. Weapons covered by the system include:


Longsword (bastard-sword or 2 handed sword)
Sword and buckler (a small shield)
Dagger
Langesmesser (long knife)
Unarmed fighting/grappling
